Happy Holidays! This year has really flown by…it’s been a whirlwind but lots of good stuff has being going on at Allegiance Ranch. Read on about some of the good stuff that’s been happening since our last newsletter…and get ready for more good stuff in the coming year! We want to position Allegiance Ranch for a bigger and brighter future. We’d love for you to be a part of it!

Colorado’s largest day of giving, Colorado Gives Day, is taking place on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. On this day, thousands of people come together to support Colorado nonprofits like ours.

When you donate to Allegiance Ranch, you’re helping us care for and train the rescue horses in preparation for their work with veterans, active duty military, first responders, and their families. Feeding and caring for the horses is our biggest expense, and we need them healthy and happy to provide the services and programs we offer at no charge. Allegiance Ranch is unique in that we rescue and rehabilitate horses in addition to providing free services for our heroes and their families!

Please help us reach our goal of $5,000! Thanks to the $1 Million Incentive Fund from Community First Foundation and FirstBank, your donation goes further on Colorado Gives Day. And, you don’t have to live in Colorado to support us on Colorado Gives Day! To donate, go to on December 10th OR you can schedule your donation now so you don’t forget! We appreciate your support.

We hosted another horsemanship clinic in September specifically for our women veterans! It was a beautiful day to ride and spend time with these wonderful women. Our participants, representing Air Force and Army, enjoyed working with the rescue horses in the round pen and riding too.  As we head into 2020, we hope to expand our programs and increase the number of participants too! Please spread the word among your friends, families, and colleagues. Our programs are free to active duty military, veterans, first responders, and their families. Our next Hero Horsemanship Clinic is scheduled for March 18th and open to both men and women veterans and first responders.

We were thrilled to host our first annual Sweat for Vets Fundraiser in collaboration with CrossFit Untapped. This fun and family friendly event featured a ranch-themed relay course and a cross fit workout for all fitness levels. There was also face painting and petting zoo featuring our miniature donkeys and mini-horse, Posie. Kona Ice of Northern Colorado was also on hand to serve up amazing snow cones. We’ll host this fun event again next fall, so keep an eye out for the date and details to come. You won’t want to miss it!

In September we were honored to participate in two important community events! The Out of the Darkness Walk took place in Fort Collins on September 8th. These community walks, sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention are held to fight suicide, reduce the stigma, and work toward reducing the suicide rate. We were honored to walk to help publicize and support veterans and military who’ve lost their lives to suicide and those who continue to struggle. To learn more, visit  We were also honored to participate in the Miles of Smiles on September 15th. Hundreds of people line I-25 to cheer on and support veterans traveling to Washington DC with the High Plains Honor Flight. This was their inaugural voyage and it was a huge success!

Stella’s adoption was final in October! We are so happy for her and her new mom. They are thriving and loving their life together. Harley and Valor’s training have gone really well this year! Harley has had several rides and is going to be a dream girl for a lucky adopter. We have a home visit for her coming up, so she may be moving on to a new forever home soon! Valor hasn’t had a first ride yet, but he’s very close! He took to wearing a saddle with ease, and he’s going to be quite the looker on the trails. As we adopt out horses and make room, we’ll be going out to rescue additional horses. Stay tuned on ways you can help! And of course, we continue to need support to ensure the health and welfare of the rescue horses at the ranch that are still in training and those that live here permanently to work with veterans and their families.
