HEROES HEADQUARTERS AT ALLEGIANCE RANCH

Project: Allegiance Ranch and Equine Rescue provides a safe place for veterans, first responders, and their families to gather and heal. We also require the help of many volunteers throughout the year. The Heroes Headquarters (H2) will act as a new activity hub for veterans and volunteers alike. The structure will serve as a gathering space and shelter in which people can relax, reflect, and connect during any season regardless of the weather. Inside the facility there are three main programs. At the center, a large room will act as a primary meeting area for anyone who spends time at the ranch. The room will have an inviting interior with clerestory windows and exposed wood trusses. This meeting/gathering room will be bordered by an office on one side and a small store on the other. The exterior of the building will include an ADA-accessible ramp and a large, covered deck from which people can view the pasture and horse corral.

Why this project needs to happen: Veterans in our community need an accessible, safe, and private place to meet with other veterans. Allegiance Ranch can more effectively fill this need by providing a multipurpose meeting space and tack room.  During the winter months in particular, our ability to serve the veterans in our communities is negatively impacted by weather and the lack of indoor meeting space. Volunteer participation, which we rely on to ensure the ongoing care of the horses, also drops off due to lack of shelter from extreme weather conditions. Having an insulated, multifaceted space will allow us to extend our services during those inclement weather periods. With additional growth around our property, an indoor meeting space will also provide more privacy for our veterans during difficult times and conversations. Furthermore, a multipurpose indoor space provides the opportunity for further partnerships with service providers equipped to support veterans. For example, Allegiance Ranch has formed a collaboration with Operation Equine, a nonprofit providing formal therapeutic experiences with horses, to partner in offering therapy programs for veterans and military cultural competency training for persons working with veterans. During inclement weather, their counseling sessions have to be canceled and rescheduled. This is not ideal for our veterans who are in need and require access to their therapist. Having access to the H2 facility will prevent lost healing opportunities.

The H2 facility will also provide opportunities for Allegiance Ranch to offer services to our community and host gatherings or special events that can help support the ranch financially. For example, community or corporate organizations seeking a place for team building or volunteer opportunities can spend time at the ranch and have use of a beautiful meeting room regardless of the season in return for a donation to the ranch. A portion of such donations are tax deductible.

Please support this campaign to build H2. We are excited about the opportunity to better serve our community and enhance our free programs for veterans, first responders, and their families. Your donation in any amount makes a difference. Thank you for your support!
